Caraway (Carum carvi) is a spice that is traditionally used as an aperitif, carminative food and for medicinal purposes. Among others, it has antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects and is also used as a galactogogue in many cultures, even though the administration of caraway fruit or oil is not recommended during pregnancy or lactation due to a lack of clinical data (Mahboubi, 2019Mortel & Mehta, 2013).
