Food allergy

Food allergy is “an immunologically mediated hypersensitivity reaction to any food, including IgE-mediated and/or non–IgE-mediated allergic reactions” (AAP et al. 2019; Greer et al. 2008) with “symptoms when fed even a small amount of a particular food (so it is not dose-related)” (World Health Organization and UNICEF. 1993); Food allergy does not equal food intolerance.
